Naija music producer-turned-singer Young Jonn has publicly turned down a collaboration request from rapper Blaqbonez, pulling up a resurfaced tweet from 2015 to justify the rejection. The old social media post revealed Blaqbonez comparing Young Jonn to fellow hitmaker DJ Coublon and expressing a preference for the latter's production style.
The exchange began after Young Jonn posted a callout on social media searching for a close-knit circle, tweeting, "I need like 5 bad friends way we go dey move in bulk!" Spotting an opportunity to connect, Blaqbonez jumped into the replies to express his interest in linking up and collaborating on new music.
Instead of accepting the offer, Young Jonn dug up the decade-old comparison post and shared a screenshot of Blaqbonez choosing DJ Coublon over him. Rebuffing the request with a dose of petty humor, the "Xtra Cool" crooner simply replied, "Go sing as one with Coublon."
Attempting to diffuse the situation and salvage the potential team-up, Blaqbonez quickly denied responsibility for the old statement, claiming it was made by his social media handler back in 2015. However, the witty clapback has already sparked plenty of reactions across social media, leaving fans amused by how long music industry grudges can linger online.
