Ten years after helping turn Drake’s "One Dance" into a global hit, Nigerian superstar Wizkid is still reaping the rewards of a song that refuses to leave playlists around the world—and that is only one part of his record-breaking story.
The Afrobeats pioneer is being credited with surpassing 12 billion streams on Spotify across all credits, a milestone that would make him the first African artist to reach the mark. Across-all-credits calculations combine streams from tracks where Wizkid is the lead artist alongside those where he appears as a featured performer. While fan tracking account WizStatz recently reported the landmark, data aggregator Kworb listed his total at 11,656,624,913 streams as of October 25, 2026. Regardless of the slight variation between independent trackers, the timeline highlights rapid growth, with the singer crossing 10 billion streams in January 2026 and 11 billion in May.
A significant portion of this total is driven by "One Dance." Released in 2016, the collaboration between Drake, Wizkid, and British singer Kyla has amassed over 4.5 billion streams on Spotify alone. While it remains a massive contributor to his overall numbers as a featured artist, Wizkid’s lead single discography carries equal weight in maintaining his global audience.
If "One Dance" introduced millions of international listeners to Wizkid, "Essence" gave them a reason to stay. The standout track from his 2020 album Made in Lagos, featuring Tems, became one of the defining Afrobeats records of the decade. The song’s global footprint expanded further in 2021 with a Justin Bieber-assisted remix that propelled it high onto the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Wizkid’s streaming power extends across multiple eras of his career. Hits like "Ojuelegba," "Joro," and "Come Closer" featuring Drake continue to generate high replay value alongside his broader catalogue. Whether the official 12-billion mark has been universally confirmed by every tracking platform or remains just shy of the target, the figures underscore the enduring influence of an artist who continues to shape the international reach of Afrobeats.
