Nollywood actress and producer Ruth Kadiri has shed light on her decision to keep her personal life out of the public eye, particularly during the early stages of her marriage. Speaking on a recent episode of the Dear Ife podcast, the filmmaker disclosed that her choice was rooted in a genuine fear of marital failure and a desire to avoid unnecessary public drama.
Kadiri revealed that prior to tying the knot, she wrestled with deep-seated anxieties about the future of her relationship. "I had a phobia of marriage. I was battling with the fear of the unknown and asking myself, ‘Am I going to make this decision and everything will now scatter?’" she shared. Driven by these apprehensions, she felt unready for a high-profile union and opted to navigate the milestone away from media scrutiny.
Fortunately, her partner was fully aligned with her preference for privacy. To ensure their special day remained intimate, the couple strictly limited their guest list to just 50 people—allocating 25 invitations to each side of the family. Kadiri noted that had they been living abroad at the time, they likely would have opted for an even simpler registry wedding to avoid the spotlight.
Kadiri and her husband, Mr. Ezerika, secretly tied the knot in a private ceremony around November 2018. Over the years, the couple has quietly built their family away from public drama, welcoming their first daughter in August 2019 and their second daughter in July 2022.
