Nigerian Afrobeats star Omah Stanley Didia, widely known as Omah Lay, has candidly revealed that he is done trying to force himself to quit smoking. Speaking on a recent episode of the DJ Dan podcast, the "Soso" hitmaker opened up about his repeated struggles to abandon the habit, explaining that he has finally come to terms with his lifestyle after years of unsuccessful attempts to stop.
The chart-topping singer shared a philosophical, albeit bleak, perspective on his decision, stating that the inevitability of death influenced his choice to stop fighting the habit. He noted that trying to force himself to quit was adding unnecessary strain, choosing instead to embrace his life as it is. Expressing a desire for personal peace, Omah Lay emphasized that he intends to enjoy his life fully rather than constantly battling his personal vices.
Adding another layer to his relationship with the habit, the singer admitted that smoking marijuana provides him with a sense of "artificial happiness" and a thrill of rebellion, given the substance's illegal status in Nigeria. He expressed that part of the appeal stems from doing something restricted, viewing it as an expression of personal freedom. Moving forward, Omah Lay made it clear that he plans to live life strictly on his own terms, making peace with his choices regardless of public opinion or legal prohibitions.
