Nigerian singer Victor Adere, popularly known as Victor AD, has publicly apologized to Afrobeats star Tiwa Savage over an unreleased remix of his breakout hit single, Wetin We Gain. The musician made the gesture in an open letter shared on his social media pages, taking full responsibility for the project never seeing the light of day.
In his post, Victor AD revealed that Tiwa Savage had generously recorded a verse for the proposed remix. Reflecting on the situation, he acknowledged that while various factors contributed to the delay and ultimate cancellation, no explanation could justify wasting her time, creative effort, and goodwill.
Expressing deep regret and appreciation, Victor AD praised the award-winning singer for her immense contributions to Afrobeats and for supporting his career early on.
"An Open Letter to Mama Jam Jam, @TiwaSavage, I should have done this a long time ago, but it’s never too late to take accountability for my actions," he wrote. "Thank you, Mama, for blessing my song 'Wetin We Gain' with a verse. Unfortunately, the remix never saw the light of day. I could go on and on explaining why it didn’t happen, but none of those explanations matters more than the genuine effort, love, and creativity you poured into making the song beautiful. For that, I’m truly sorry about how things turned out."
He added: "Beyond this, I want to use this opportunity to appreciate you for everything you’ve done for the culture and for the doors you’ve opened for Afrobeats. Your impact is undeniable, and I’ll never take your contribution to my journey for granted. I love and appreciate you, Mama."
Tiwa Savage responded warmly to the open letter, accepting the apology and reassuring the artist that there was no animosity between them.
"I appreciate this. God knows the reason for everything. All love," she replied, putting an end to any lingering speculation surrounding the unreleased track.
