Veteran Nollywood actress Grace Owoola Oyin-Adejobi, affectionately known to millions of fans as Iya Osogbo, has celebrated her 96th birthday in grand style. Marking nearly a century of life and over seven decades in show business, the respected icon released stunning birthday portraits that highlighted her timeless elegance and enduring status as a titan of the Yoruba entertainment industry.
For her milestone celebration, the screen legend posed in striking traditional attire. In one photo, she looked radiant in a vibrant pink flowing dress paired with a beautifully tied green gele. Another portrait captured her in a richly textured traditional ensemble, complemented by statement jewelry that reflected her royal flair and lasting presence.
Born in Osogbo, Osun State, Iya Osogbo’s incredible career began long before the rise of modern Nollywood. Her journey into acting started in 1953 when she joined the Oyin Adejobi Theatre Company, founded by her late husband, Chief Oyin Adejobi—a partner she had known since childhood from their shared neighborhood and school days in Osogbo. Through stage plays and the traveling theatre circuit, she helped build the foundational pillars of modern Nigerian performance art.
