Jamaican sprint legend Usain Bolt has taken a major step in his personal life, proposing to his longtime girlfriend, Kasi Bennett, during his 40th birthday celebration in Jamaica. Surrounded by family and friends, the eight-time Olympic gold medalist got down on one knee to ask for Bennett's hand in marriage, officially fulfilling a promise he had made to her throughout their decade-plus relationship.
Before popping the question, Bolt took to the mic to deliver a heartfelt speech reflecting on their shared journey. He praised Bennett for her unwavering support through both difficult and triumphant times, noting that after nearly 14 years together, the timing was finally right to make things official. As an unsuspecting Bennett looked on in surprise, Bolt delivered on his long-standing vow, sealing the proposal with an emotional embrace as Bruno Mars’ hit track "Marry You" played in the background.
The couple, who first began dating in 2013, kept their romance relatively private in its early years before stepping into the public eye. Over the course of their relationship, they have welcomed three children together: their daughter, Olympia Lightning, born in 2020, and twin sons, Thunder and Saint Leo, born in 2021.
Widely regarded as the greatest sprinter of all time, Bolt retired from competitive athletics in 2017 with multiple world records and world championship titles to his name. This latest milestone marks a joyful new chapter for the track icon, celebrated alongside the woman who has stood by his side since his peak competing years.
