Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham has taken a decisive step to protect her reputation, threatening legal action against individuals and media platforms allegedly spreading false and malicious stories about her. The movie star, through her legal representatives, issued a formal cease-and-desist notice dated November 5, warning bloggers, social media users, content creators, and influencers against publishing or circulating unverified claims.
The notice, signed by her lawyer Tope Salami, described the ongoing publications as “untrue, misleading, unsubstantiated, and capable of damaging her professional personality, image, personal integrity, and general goodwill.” Abraham made the move public by sharing the legal document directly to her official X (formerly Twitter) account on Thursday, urging members of the public to read the notice carefully.
Her legal team called for an immediate halt to all defamatory actions, demanding that those involved stop publishing, reposting, endorsing, or circulating harmful statements across social media platforms and other media channels. Additionally, the notice requires the prompt removal of existing posts, videos, comments, and related materials deemed false or damaging to the actress.
The legal representatives cautioned against creating or promoting fabricated allegations, malicious insinuations, and content intended to ridicule, harass, or undermine Abraham’s business interests and personal standing. The warning made it clear that anyone who continues to circulate or amplify these claims after receiving the notice faces potential court proceedings, noting that relevant digital materials, comments, and videos are being preserved as evidence for future litigation.
Emphasizing the boundary between opinion and defamation, Salami pointed out that freedom of expression does not grant anyone the right to spread falsehoods or unlawfully damage another person's reputation.
This legal move comes amid renewed online discourse involving Abraham and fellow Nollywood actress Funke Akindele. The controversy gained momentum in October 2026 after an alleged private audio recording between Abraham and a TikTok user identified as Bisgold leaked online, sparking widespread reactions over remarks reportedly made about Akindele. Although the authenticity and full context of the recording remain unverified, Abraham’s lawyers urged the public to exercise restraint, verify information before sharing, and ensure future commentary regarding the actress is factual and grounded in verifiable evidence.
