Popular Nigerian TikToker Habeeb Adelaja, widely known as Peller, has issued a public apology to the Christian community after facing widespread criticism for dressing in a white outfit and attempting to portray himself as Jesus Christ during a recent livestream.
The controversy began when the content creator appeared online clad in white attire and asked his livestream guest to address him as Jesus Christ. The guest immediately rejected the request and cautioned Peller against making statements or engaging in acts that could be perceived as mocking or disrespecting religious beliefs.
Following an immediate wave of backlash from viewers online, the streamer quickly addressed the situation to plead for forgiveness. Peller explained that he only wore the white fabric as a simple costume and did not anticipate that the act would provoke such strong outrage among believers.
"Yes, I’m very sorry. Yeah, I just wore that white cloth. I don’t know it is a problem I am facing. Christian people, sorry. You hear? I don’t know," Peller stated while addressing the incident. "See my problem, I go well. That guy won’t kill me here for top top red and white cloth. I don’t know for him."
Closing his apology, the TikToker reaffirmed his respect for his audience and offered an unexpected explanation regarding his personal faith. "You hear, guys, sorry. You hear, Christian people, sorry. Yeah, I love you, Christian people. Yeah, I’m a Christian too. Yeah, I go to Christ Apostolic Church. Yeah, I’m a Muslim on one side. Yeah, so sorry."
