Grammy Award-winning Nigerian singer Temilade Openiyi, widely known as Tems, has revealed that she is officially done with the single scene and no longer searching for love. The singer shared the news during a TikTok livestream on Monday, using the popular colloquial phrase to signal that she has officially "left the streets"—a term frequently used when a woman enters a serious relationship, gets married, or steps away from the dating pool entirely.
While Tems refrained from giving specific details about her current relationship status or identifying a partner, she made her reasons for stepping away crystal clear: she is completely done with men who fail to value her time. "I don’t like it when guys waste my time. But for me, never again. I don’t have that problem anymore," she told viewers during the stream, adding with a smile, "I have left the streets; I wouldn’t even say I was ever on the streets."
The announcement comes after open reflections from the global star regarding her past struggles with dating and the challenges of finding sincere affection in the spotlight. Tems has previously expressed frustration over the difficulty of navigating romantic approaches, noting that many suitors fail to offer the substance she looks for in a partner.
In a candid interview with popular YouTuber Korty EO last year, the "Free Mind" crooner opened up about how men frequently approach her with ulterior motives. She revealed that a majority of the men who tried to pursue a relationship with her were primarily focused on her physical appearance rather than getting to know her as a person. Emphasizing her desire for true intimacy, Tems shared that she has always prioritized building genuine, deeper connections—a standard she seems unwilling to compromise on as she closes the chapter on casual dating.
