Nollywood actress Sunshine Rosman has officially completed her higher education journey, signing out from the University of Lagos (UNILAG) after seven years. Celebrating the long-awaited milestone, the Nigerian-Canadian actress took to Instagram to share photos from her graduation, acknowledging the immense effort it took to balance a demanding acting career with her academic responsibilities. "These past 7 years have been challenging, but we overcame & we really did it together!" she wrote while reflecting on her time as a student.
Navigating university life while working in the entertainment industry required tough choices for Rosman. During an interview, she recalled how her schedule clashed directly with her academic commitments when she was offered the role of Amanda Sparkles in Kemi Adetiba’s Netflix production, To Kill a Monkey. Despite the pressure to defer a semester, she successfully sat for her university examinations before joining the set, proving her dedication to finishing her degree.
With her academic chapter officially behind her, Rosman is now setting her ambitions on international cinema. Speaking in a recent interview with filmmaker AY Makun, the actress expressed a strong desire to take on lead roles in foreign productions, specifically highlighting Indian and Spanish film industries. She noted that her mixed heritage—having an Imo State mother and a late Canadian father of Italian descent—gives her a versatile look that fits diverse roles. "I’ve seen that I can play an Indian character very comfortably, in terms of my features and what I look like," she explained, adding that she is equally open to playing Spanish characters.
Rosman is fully aware that breaking into international markets like Bollywood requires dedication. She stated that she would happily devote one to two years to learning the language needed for a role if the opportunity arose. Having grown up in various parts of Lagos while performing in childhood plays with her sisters, Rosman’s passion for storytelling has been a lifelong pursuit. Since her professional debut in the 2015 movie Lunch Time Heroes, she has built a solid filmography with titles like When Love Strikes, Our Best Friend’s Wedding, and Pretty Thief. Now, degree in hand, the actress is ready to take her talent to the global stage.
