Nollywood star Kunle Remi has shared insights into his marriage and personal beliefs, revealing that his wife, Tiwi, chooses not to kneel when greeting every elderly person. Speaking in a recent interview with media personality VJ Adams, the actor discussed his marital life, spiritual journey, and his wife's selective approach to traditional cultural greetings.
Remi explained that while his wife respects cultural values, she reserves physical gestures like kneeling specifically for people with whom she shares a close, personal bond. According to the actor, Tiwi happily kneels to greet her parents and grandparents, but she does not feel obligated to perform the act for every elderly person she encounters.
"My wife doesn’t even understand what kneeling means; she can kneel for her grandparents, her parents, but can’t kneel for every elderly person," Remi stated during the interview, defending her perspective on the age-old tradition.
Beyond discussing cultural expectations, the actor spoke warmly about the depth of his relationship with Tiwi, describing her as his best friend. He attributed the strength and foundation of their union to intentional prayer and spiritual readiness long before they got married.
Remi shared that prior to marriage, he actively prayed for wisdom and guidance, asking God to show him what he did not know and teach him what he needed to understand to be a good partner. He recalled expressing his readiness for commitment early on, telling God that he was fully prepared to love and take care of the woman who would become his wife.
