Veteran Nigerian rapper Olusegun Osaniyi, widely recognized as Lord of Ajasa, has officially attained United States citizenship, marking a major personal milestone alongside his family. The indigenous rap pioneer shared the landmark occasion with fans on social media, posting photos and videos documenting his official citizenship celebration.
In a video uploaded to his Instagram page, the rapper could be seen walking down an American street, proudly waving the United States flag to mark his new status. Standing beside him during the celebration was his wife, Funmi, who cheered him on as he proudly declared, “I am now a citizen of the city, let them hear.”
This achievement opens a new chapter for the Ondo State-born musician, whose groundbreaking work in the early 2000s helped redefine the trajectory of Nigerian hip-hop. Rising to national prominence with his hit single “Ma Yi Lo,” Lord of Ajasa became a trailblazer for indigenous Yoruba rap, laying the groundwork for future generations and collaborating with industry icons including 9ice and the late DaGrin.
While Ajasa relocated to the United States several years ago, he has maintained a strong connection with his audience by regularly sharing updates on his life, family, and ongoing creative endeavors abroad. Fans and well-wishers have since flooded his social media platforms with congratulations, celebrating both his legacy in Nigerian music and his latest milestone.
