Veteran Nollywood actress and producer Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde has received two major social impact honors in recognition of her commitment to community empowerment through cinema. The acclaimed movie icon was awarded both the Social Impact Award and a Lifetime Social Impact Recognition in a joint honor presented by the Israel Tribune and 90210 Enterprise.
The recognition comes after the actress donated the entirety of her producer earnings from her film, Mother’s Love, toward funding the education of children living in underserved communities across Nigeria.
The initiative was deeply personal for the actress, who revealed that the decision was sparked during production in low-income urban areas, including the riverine settlement of Makoko in Lagos. Seeing the challenges faced by local youth firsthand led her to dedicate the project's financial returns directly back into their education.
Reflecting on the unexpected global reaction to her philanthropic gesture, Omotola expressed gratitude on her social media channels for the overwhelming support:
"When I decided to donate our entire producers’ earnings from Mother's Love to the education of children from underserved communities such as Makoko… Little did I know how many it would resonate with, touch, or were watching! Our little act of obedience has continued to be an inspiration even to me."
The actress noted that receiving a joint honor from both international organizations marks a significant milestone in her career, reflecting her lifelong commitment to blending creative storytelling with tangible advocacy.
"Honored to receive both a Social Impact Award and Lifetime Social Impact recognition from both the #IsraelTribune and @90210enterprise, a joint first recognition by them. Thank you! I am truly grateful to God to be able to do what I love and give back through it," she added.
Spanning over three decades in the film industry, Omotola's legacy extends far beyond her on-screen roles. This dual recognition highlights her ongoing work as an advocate using film as a tool for social development and real-world relief.
