Popular Nollywood actress Chioma Chukwuka Akpotha is in mourning following the passing of her father, Chief Leonard Ndukaife Chukwuka. The movie star announced the heartbreaking news on Friday, October 2, 2026, in an emotional tribute shared across her social media platforms.
Reflecting on the loss, Chioma admitted that finding the words to convey her grief was difficult, affectionately describing her late father as her “daddy,” “papa’m,” “obara’m,” and source of comfort. The tragedy comes 13 years after the death of her mother, Grace Egoyibo Chukwuka, in May 2013, leaving the actress deeply saddened by the loss of both parents.
"My beloved father, Leonard Ndukaife Chukwuka, has gone to be with the Lord," she wrote. "I lost my mother 13 years ago and now that my father is gone, the thought that I have neither parent here anymore breaks my heart in a way I cannot fully explain."
Despite her profound grief, the star expressed gratitude for her father's long life, noting that he lived to see his children and grandchildren grow. She fondly recalled the special moments they shared together, particularly during the final phase of his life, while acknowledging how difficult it is to say goodbye to a parent.
"No matter how many years we are given with a parent, we still want one more conversation, one more embrace, one more day," the actress added.
Chioma explained that she initially kept the news quiet to process her loss in private. She requested prayers and support from fans and well-wishers for herself, her siblings, and the entire Chukwuka family during this challenging period, noting that funeral arrangements will be communicated by the family in due course.
