Nkechi Blessing has spoken out against the intense social pressure to associate with self-acclaimed "Lagos big girls" and constantly parade wealth on social media. The Nollywood actress shared her candid thoughts in an Instagram post amid an ongoing public feud between prominent socialites Diadem Adeola and Dabota Lawson, using the moment to address the illusion of high-society living curated online.
Refusing to subscribe to the trend, Nkechi explained that she has never felt the desire to identify with the "big girl" persona, prioritizing personal comfort, good food, and the freedom to travel over societal approval. She criticized the superficial nature of online aesthetics, cautioning her followers that the reality behind many lavish digital personas is often far less impressive up close. Mockingly labeling herself a "Yankee broke girl," she emphasized that she focuses strictly on her own lane rather than competing with others over who has more money.
The screen star also challenged the widespread assumption that individuals who choose not to flaunt their private lives or luxury items on social media are financially struggling. Nkechi clarified that keeping a low profile does not mean a lack of resources, asserting that when major financial obligations arise—even those running into hundreds of millions of naira—she can comfortably handle them without needing to validate her status to the public.
