Natasha Osawaru Idibia Vows to Become Nigeria's President During Chief Gabriel Igbinedion’s Birthday Celebration

Edo State lawmaker Honourable Natasha Osawaru Idibia has made a public declaration of her political ambitions, promising her grandfather, Chief Gabriel Igbinedion, that she will one day become the President of Nigeria. She voiced the vow during a private family gathering held in Edo State to celebrate the 92nd birthday of the renowned businessman, philanthropist, and Esama of Benin Kingdom. 

Addressing her grandfather directly during the event, the 31-year-old legislator praised the patriarch’s enduring influence on her life and expressed her deep affection for him. "As you age, you become sweeter and better. It is so amazing to be around you, Grandpa," she said. "I will make you very proud, I promise you. Today shall be one of the best of your days and more to come. May God bless you, my grandfather. You are like my baby right now; I love you so much. I promise you that I’ll be the president of this country before you go. And I’ll make you very, very proud." 

The pledge marks the first time the representative of the Egor Constituency in the Edo State House of Assembly has openly voiced an ambition to seek the nation's highest political office. The private birthday celebration brought together a gathering of family members, business leaders, and political figures assembled to honor the Esama of Benin. 

As a member of the Igbinedion family—one of the most prominent dynasties in Nigerian politics and business—Osawaru Idibia continues a long line of public service. The family legacy includes figures such as former Edo State Governor Lucky Igbinedion, former House of Representatives member Omosede Igbinedion, former local government chairman and commissioner Charles Igbinedion, and former Nigerian Aviation Authority Managing Director Peter Igbinedion. 

In addition to her legislative career, Osawaru Idibia's high-profile marriage to legendary musician Innocent "2Baba" Idibia has consistently drawn public attention. While the couple recently addressed online speculation following reports of a brief disagreement at an Abuja nightclub, 2Baba dismissed claims of a rift, confirming that their relationship remains solid.
