Nollywood actress Laide Bakare has publicly appealed for assistance regarding the safety and well-being of her two sons, claiming she overheard her ex-husband’s wife giving alarming instructions on how to harm them. The film star shared her concerns in a video posted to her Instagram page, bringing an ongoing custody dispute with her former partner into the public eye.
Bakare explained that while she was in Saudi Arabia performing Umrah, she overheard a disturbing conversation taking place at her ex-husband’s residence. According to the actress, her former husband’s current wife was instructing another child in the household on how to physically punish Bakare’s sons without leaving visible marks—specifically advising him to grip them by the neck instead of beating them in ways that their father would notice. Bakare asserted that she possesses an audio recording of the incident.
The actress expressed frustration over her ex-husband’s inaction, stating that despite repeatedly bringing the matter to his attention, he has dismissed her concerns due to his strong attachment to his wife. She further alleged that he has been withholding the boys from her as a form of punishment and refusing to allow their passports to be renewed, effectively preventing her from taking them abroad or having them live with her.
Bakare maintained that she had deliberately kept the family issue private for a long time before deciding to speak out on social media. Her primary plea is that her sons no longer remain in the custody of their stepmother, whom she described as deceptive—appearing pleasant in public while behaving differently behind closed doors. Ahead of her upcoming birthday, the mother of three also asked her social media followers to join her in praying for the protection of her children.
At the time of reporting, Bakare’s ex-husband has not publicly responded to the allegations. The claims made in the video remain unverified, and the recording referenced by the actress has not been released publicly.
