Real Madrid striker Kylian Mbappé made history on Monday after securing his place in the top 10 official rankings for the 2026 Ballon d'Or.
The French captain earned his spot on the prestigious list alongside elite talent including Ousmane Dembélé, Erling Haaland, Harry Kane, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Lionel Messi, Michael Olise, Fabián Ruiz, Rodri, and Lamine Yamal. According to statistical platform Madrid Xtra, this recognition makes Mbappé the first French player in football history to finish in the Ballon d'Or top 10 for nine consecutive editions.
Despite his consistent presence among football's elite over the years, the former Paris Saint-Germain star has yet to win the coveted award. He will be hoping this is the year he finally takes home the trophy, backed by an impressive individual season where he finished as top scorer in both the UEFA Champions League and La Liga, alongside earning the Golden Boot as the top scorer at the FIFA World Cup.
However, the path to his first golden ball will not be easy. Mbappé faces fierce competition for the ultimate prize, with Barcelona prodigy Lamine Yamal and Bayern Munich forward Harry Kane emerging as strong contenders following standout performances of their own.
