Afrobeats star Zlatan Ibile and his long-time partner, Davita Lamai, officially tied the knot in a breathtaking traditional wedding ceremony in Lagos on Saturday, October 24, 2026. The high-profile celebration featured rich cultural displays, star-studded groomsmen, and multiple regal outfit changes celebrating both Benin and Yoruba heritage.
The couple made a striking first appearance in Benin-inspired attire adorned with intricate coral beadwork. Davita stunned in a deep red beaded gown accompanied by a multi-strand coral necklace and matching headpiece. Zlatan complemented her look in a crisp white traditional outfit layered with red bead fringe and heavy coral necklaces. Sharing the iconic moment on Instagram under the hashtag #DTTheUnion, Zlatan captioned the photos simply: "IT’S TIME TO MARRY."
For their second look, the newly-weds transitioned into coordinated Yoruba attire, with Zlatan introducing the photos under the caption "MR & MRS OMONIYI." The groom wore a light green agbada detailed with cream embroidered panels, a matching cap, a dark green walking cane, and layered white and green beads. Davita complemented him seamlessly in a pale yellow skirt-and-blouse set featuring light green appliqué detailing, flared sleeves, a fitted bodice, a perfectly tied gele, and a dark green clutch.
Among the notable highlights of the day was the star-studded groomsmen lineup, which featured global superstar Davido—one of Zlatan’s closest friends. Davido made a grand entry at the venue in a white Rolls-Royce after landing in Nigeria earlier in the week, where he teased the celebration on his Instagram Story with a stack of dollar bills and the caption, "Heavy weekend for my bestie." Davido’s prominent presence at the traditional ceremony followed reports of him and Burna Boy exchanging cordial greetings at Zlatan’s bachelor party earlier in the week.
The celebration drew widespread attention and well-wishes from across the entertainment and sports industries. Popular influencer Enioluwa Adeoluwa and comedian Broda Shaggi were among the first to congratulate the couple online, while Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface reportedly gifted the groom three cows ahead of the festivities. Days prior, Zlatan had spoiled Davita at her bridal shower with lavish gifts, including a diamond necklace, a Hermès Birkin bag, Christian Louboutin heels, and a luxury wristwatch.
The couple, who share two sons, first teased their wedding plans in July while aboard a private jet en route to music executive Soso Soberekon's wedding. They officially announced the date on October 8 through an Instagram video narrated by one of their sons. Following an earlier private civil ceremony, the couple opted to keep the exact venue and guest list for the traditional nuptials private, leaving fans eagerly awaiting further details on the performances and guest appearances.
