Nollywood actress Yvonne Jegede has candidly reflected on her failed marriage, revealing that one of her biggest regrets was choosing love over financial stability.
Speaking during a revealing episode of The Honest Bunch podcast, the movie star opened up about the dynamics of her previous marriage, disclosing that she was the primary breadwinner during their time together and covered the larger share of the family's financial expenses.
According to Jegede, the financial imbalance coincided with growing friction over communication. She explained that her ex-husband, who is eight years her senior, became increasingly sensitive after they officially tied the knot, frequently accusing her of being disrespectful during everyday interactions. She noted that his demeanor shifted significantly after marriage, leaving her questioning whether he was truly the same person she had known before they wed.
"I was bringing in more of the money in the marriage and my ex-husband always felt disrespected, although he is eight years older than me," Jegede shared during the interview. "But the moment we got married if I tell him, ‘You dey craze,’ he would say I’m disrespecting him, and then I would start wondering if it was the same person I got married to."
Reflecting on the painful lessons learned from the relationship, the actress expressed disappointment in how prioritizing feelings over financial compatibility played out in her life. "I regret choosing love over money," she admitted
