Guinness World Record-holding Nigerian chef Hilda Baci has spoken out against the lingering societal mindset that attributes a woman's success to her male partner, arguing that such comments highlight how much progress society still needs to make regarding attitudes toward women.
Speaking in a video shared by Goldmyne TV, the culinary entrepreneur revealed that while these remarks do not necessarily anger her, she finds them deeply upsetting because they completely erase the hard work and dedication women pour into building their own independent careers. According to Baci, the narrative reflects a broader, systemic issue in how women's achievements are perceived.
“It is sometimes upsetting, but I think that it just goes to show where we are as people and what the mindset is,” she explained.
Addressing how she handles these biased assumptions, the celebrity chef emphasized that the skepticism only fuels her drive to empower others. She shared that she remains deeply intentional about leveraging her platform to represent women positively and open doors for them to achieve their own financial and professional independence.
“That’s why I’m so intentional about putting in so much effort in representing myself, representing women, and just giving more women an opportunity to do better for themselves as well,” Baci added.
