From Bet9ja Cashier to Superstar: Afrobeats Singer FOLA Gifts Mother Her Dream Car

Afrobeats star FOLA has marked a major personal milestone by gifting his mother a brand-new car, fulfilling the second of two specific requests she made when his music career first began to gain momentum. Sharing the news on social media, the rising artist reflected on how far he has come, expressing gratitude for being in a position to honor the woman who believed in his talent long before the rest of the world caught on.

The singer revealed that when his life first began to shift, he asked his mother what she truly desired. Her requests were simple yet deeply meaningful: her own church building and a specific model of car. "When things started to align, I randomly asked my mother what she wanted and she said she wanted her own church building and this specific car," FOLA wrote. "I thank God for keeping this running long enough for me to say I've done both things."

The vehicle completes a journey that started earlier in his career, when FOLA used his first major earnings from music to buy his mother a plot of land in Ibadan, where she went on to establish her church. At the time, he openly shared that his mother was the very first person he thought of once financial success began to materialize.

This achievement stands out given FOLA’s humble origins. Before his big break in the music industry, the artist worked as a Bet9ja cashier in Ibadan. Throughout those challenging years, his mother remained his biggest supporter, consistently reassuring him that he was destined for stardom and pushing him to create music when very few were listening.

FOLA’s trajectory changed dramatically following the success of his breakout single Alone, which paved the way for high-profile collaborations with industry heavyweights including Ayra Starr, Wizkid, BNXN, Zlatan, Victony, and DJ Tunez. Signed to Dangbana Republik and Empire, the musician further solidified his status as one of Nigeria’s most promising talents with the release of his debut studio album, Catharsis, in September 2025.

Online, fans and well-wishers have flooded his comment section with praise, celebrating both his filial devotion and his remarkable rise from local cashier to chart-topping Afrobeats star.
