Former President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Emeka Rollas, has publicly apologised to Senator Ned Nwoko, his wife Regina Daniels, her mother Rita Daniels, members of the AGN Board of Trustees, and several prominent colleagues over controversial statements he made during a period of high tension surrounding the guild’s leadership. Rollas expressed deep regret over the timing and manner of his past remarks, acknowledging that he could have handled the situation far better.
The controversy dates back to statements Rollas issued on November 20, 2025, addressing allegations around the guild's transition process, internal finances, and leadership. At the heart of the dispute was a ₦200 million pledge made by Senator Ned Nwoko during the opening of the AGN Abuja office and the launch of the guild's multipurpose Super App. While the pledge was announced to support a talent hunt initiative for young Nigerian creatives, Rollas later claimed that the money had been given directly to Regina Daniels for her film production rather than to the guild itself. During that period, Rollas also fiercely defended his eight-year tenure as president, criticising members of the Board of Trustees and calling certain individuals "enemies of AGN."
Reflecting on his actions, Rollas revealed that a recent coincidental encounter with Rita Daniels, where mutual acquaintances attempted to broker peace, prompted him to re-evaluate his past stance. He admitted that while he genuinely believed in the issues he raised at the time, his approach was flawed—particularly given the personal circumstances of those involved.
“These were people I had related with, worked with and, in some cases, considered friends. More importantly, I made those statements at a time when a family was going through a deeply personal and difficult period. I should not have taken that path,” Rollas stated.
Beyond the Nwoko family, Rollas extended his unreserved apologies to several veteran colleagues and industry stakeholders mentioned during the rift, including Okey Bakassi, Charles Inojie, Chinyere Wilfred, Jide Kosoko, Sanni Danja, Agility Onwurah, Nazareth Jesse, as well as his former aides. He concluded that the recent reconciliation with Rita Daniels provided a much-needed opportunity to heal old wounds and take full accountability for the impact of his words.
