Fast-rising Nigerian singer Oseremen Ukanigbe, professionally known as Mavo, has issued an apology to several established Nigerian superstars after old social media posts criticizing them resurfaced online. Taking to his X (formerly Twitter) account to address the growing backlash, the singer reflected on his past behavior, admitting that he used to be a harsh entertainment critic before deciding to focus on his own musical journey.
Explaining the context behind his previous posts, Mavo revealed that his phase as a vocal critic began during his university days. However, he stepped away from that path once he realized how detached top figures in the industry were from social media discourse. He noted that redirecting his energy entirely toward creating music brought a positive shift to his life, leading to steady progress and career satisfaction.
Addressing the impact of his past comments, the singer acknowledged that his former posts had unintentionally hurt several individuals in the industry. He disclosed that after meeting many of the artistes he once targeted online, he realized how mistaken his earlier judgments were, describing them as warm and supportive people in person.

"I have met most of these people, and they actually turn out to be amazing people. I'm sorry for my misjudgment. Let love lead."
The public apology comes as Mavo continues to carve out a prominent space for himself in the Nigerian music scene. Having officially launched his professional career in 2023 with his debut project Ukanigbe, the artist achieved widespread recognition following the success of his hit single "Escaladizzy," which introduced his signature sound and slang to a broader audience. Since his breakthrough, Mavo has built an impressive portfolio, collaborating with industry heavyweights including Davido, Wizkid, and CKay.
