Nollywood actress Damilola Adegbite has sparked a conversation around evolving relationship dynamics in Nigeria, revealing that she has noticed a significant shift in the dating landscape where younger men are increasingly drawn to older women.
Speaking on a recent episode of her podcast, published on her official YouTube channel, the 41-year-old movie star reflected on how societal expectations surrounding women and aging are rapidly changing. She noted that while society previously pressured women to step back from the dating market once they crossed a certain age—assuming younger women held all the appeal—the narrative is now reversing as older women find themselves in high demand.
To explain the transformation, Adegbite drew a parallel to a popular biblical passage, describing the shift in perception as a classic story of elevated value.
“Honestly, I think Psalm 118:22 was onto something,” she shared. “You know that scripture about the stone which the builders rejected becoming the cornerstone? Maybe we should just say the older woman who was once overlooked has become the premium package.”
The actress further highlighted the bold approach of younger men in modern dating scenarios, praising the confidence with which they pursue older partners without hesitation or self-consciousness.
“A younger man will see a woman who is 38, 40 or 42 and say boldly, ‘I like you.’ And you are sitting there thinking, ‘Sorry, wait, are we doing this?’ And he is looking you dead in the eye like, ‘Yes, we are.’ And I think that confidence is attractive,” she added.
