Nigerian singer Crayon has sparked intense reaction across social media after launching a scathing series of posts accusing his record label, Mavin Records, of altering his personality for the worse. In the same outburst, the artist also announced an immediate end to his long-standing friendship with fellow labelmate Rema.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Crayon aired his deep-seated frustrations regarding his music career, alleging that his time under the Don Jazzy-led label stripped him of his authentic self. Reflecting on his transformation since stepping into the spotlight, the singer painted a dramatic picture of his journey from humble beginnings to stardom.
“What really happened to the old Crayon! Mavin killed him!!! They killed the loving and playful Crayon!” he wrote. He explained that he originally joined Mavin Records as an innocent young man hailing from the Ojo area of Lagos with dreams of becoming one of Africa's top music acts, only to feel compromised along the way. Adding further weight to his grievance, he posted, “Na idiot wey make I sell my before I blow!”
The singer's tirade took an even more personal turn as he turned his attention toward his relationship with superstar Rema (Divine Ikubor). Declaring that their friendship was officially over, Crayon stated that he had reached his limit after enduring repeated emotional damage from those close to him.
“Me and Rema are no longer friends! Una don too hurt me! Una dey hurt me to the last minute! I don leave am for God!!!!! I no go talk again!” he posted.
Crayon went on to urge Rema to step in and instruct his fanbase to cease attacking him online. He concluded his series of posts with a cryptic warning, hinting that he holds further details about actions allegedly carried out against him by Rema and label executive Tega that he could choose to expose.
