Popular Nigerian comedian Okey Bakassi and his wife, Zizi, are celebrating a quarter-century of marriage, marking 25 years of love, resilience, and partnership. To commemorate the milestone, the veteran entertainer shared a emotional video collage on social media, capturing some of the most cherished moments from their journey together alongside a heartfelt message detailing their history.
The couple’s love story dates back long before their wedding day. Bakassi revealed that they first met in 1988, striking up a connection through love letters that eventually blossomed into a deep friendship. Though the pursuit of higher education temporarily pulled them in different directions, destiny eventually brought them back together. On September 1, 2001, they officially tied the knot surrounded by family and friends in Port Harcourt—the very city where their romance first began.
Reflecting on their silver jubilee, the comedian expressed deep gratitude for their enduring bond and the family they have built. Over the past 25 years, the couple has welcomed three children, now young adults, and navigated the changing world together. Bakassi emphasized that their marriage isn't about setting records or proving anything to the public, but rather about living authentically rooted in love, trust, faith, and humility.
In his emotional tribute, Bakassi extended a personal message of gratitude to Zizi for her unwavering support, sacrifices, and belief in him throughout the decades. Acknowledging her role in helping him find direction and understanding him like no one else, he affectionately invited her to take on the next chapter of their lives together, asking for "another 25 years and beyond."
