Nollywood actress Chita Agwu has officially announced the end of her 11-year marriage after a court legally dissolved the union. The film star shared the news in a personal statement, describing the milestone as the closing of one chapter and the beginning of another as she steps into a new phase of life.
Agwu explained that the decision came after considerable thought and a deeply personal journey. She noted that while every union aims for a lifelong partnership, not every story unfolds as initially hoped, emphasizing that individuals navigating such transitions deserve understanding rather than harsh scrutiny.
"After much thought and a deeply personal journey, I wish to officially inform the public that my marriage has been legally dissolved by the court," Agwu stated. "This chapter of my life has come to an end, and I have chosen to embrace this new beginning with peace, grace, and dignity."
Addressing the public and her supporters, the actress urged caution against judgment, ridicule, and public humiliation. She maintained that everyone deserves the freedom to move forward constructively when a relationship ends, choosing to prioritize her emotional well-being over external controversy.
"Marriage is a personal journey, and not every story ends the way we once hoped. However, I believe that every individual deserves the freedom to move forward without judgment, ridicule, or public humiliation," she added.
Out of respect for all parties involved, Agwu confirmed she will keep the private circumstances surrounding the split out of the public eye. Concluding her statement, she expressed deep gratitude to those who have supported her and stressed that her focus remains entirely on personal healing, growth, and looking toward the future with confidence.
"Out of respect for everyone involved, I will not be sharing private details or engaging in public discussions about the circumstances surrounding my divorce. I kindly ask that my privacy and that of my former partner be respected," Agwu said. "As I begin this new chapter, I choose peace over controversy, healing over bitterness, and growth over public explanations."
