Popular Nigerian comedian and content creator Chukwuebuka Emmanuel Amuzie, widely known as Brain Jotter, has taken to social media to voice his outrage after becoming the latest public figure to face harassment from aggressive street thugs, locally known as "agberos," on a Lagos road. The entertainer shared a video on his Instagram page documenting the tense moment a group of touts surrounded his vehicle, refusing to let him drive through unless he paid them off.
The video captured the confrontational nature of the encounter, highlighting the impunity with which these groups operate on major roadways. During the exchange, one of the touts aggressively blocked the vehicle while boasting to the comedian, shouting, "I be lion." The incident left Brain Jotter visibly frustrated as he attempted to navigate the situation safely while recording the encounter for his millions of followers.
Reacting to the altercation, the skit maker criticized the lack of intervention and oversight regarding the growing menace of street harassment across the state. Using a satirical analogy to address the tout's claim, Brain Jotter lamented the state of public safety, writing, "Lion no dey use eyes see goat. Nigerian zoo keepers are the worst. We lack good wildlife and they let a lion escape from their zoo. This is sad."
Brain Jotter’s public outcry comes amid a wave of similar complaints from Nigerian celebrities and everyday motorists who face constant intimidation, extortion, and property damage from unauthorized street enforcers. As video footage of the encounter continues to circulate online, it has sparked renewed calls from residents for local authorities to take decisive action against unchecked roadside harassment in Lagos.
