Former Big Brother Naija winner Phyna has shared a heart-wrenching tribute to mark one year since the tragic passing of her younger sister, Ruth Otabor. Reflecting on her ongoing grief, the reality TV star admitted that the wound remains as fresh as ever while expressing profound frustration over what she claims is a complete failure of the justice system.
Ruth passed away in August 2025 following a severe collision involving a Dangote Cement truck near Auchi Polytechnic in Edo State. After suffering catastrophic injuries that led to the amputation of one leg, she ultimately succumbed to complications. Exactly 365 days after the tragedy, Phyna took to her Instagram page to convey the unbearable weight of her sister's absence and the difficulty of moving forward.
"It’s been exactly one year since I lost you, my sister, and honestly, I still don't know how to put into words what your absence has done to me," Phyna shared in her post. "People say time heals, but sometimes I wonder if time really heals or if we just learn how to live with the pain. Because even after 365 days, there are moments when it still feels like yesterday."
Beyond her grief, the reality star leveled serious accusations against the conglomerate involved, alleging that the case was intentionally swept under the carpet. Phyna explicitly named the Dangote Group in her post and claimed that the driver responsible for the fatal crash was a minor who was never held accountable by law enforcement.
"Dangote Group killed my sister and never looked back," she wrote, adding that the underage truck driver remains free today. The loss of her sister, coupled with what she views as a lack of accountability, has left her disillusioned with the pursuit of legal redress.
Despite her anger over the unresolved case, Phyna concluded her tribute by focusing on the enduring bond she shared with Ruth. Vowing to keep her memory alive for the rest of her life, she wrote, "I miss you in ways I cannot explain. Sleep peacefully, my beautiful sister. You are deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten."
