Natasha Osawaru, lawmaker representing Egor Constituency and wife of legendary music icon 2Baba, has been announced as the new Minority Leader of the Edo State House of Assembly. The appointment was officially declared during plenary on Monday following a major reshuffle of the legislative body’s principal officers.
Her elevation to the key leadership role comes under the platform of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC). Osawaru transitioned to the party following her high-profile defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in May 2026, positioning her as a central figure within the Assembly's opposition block.
Reacting to her appointment in a statement published on her official Facebook page, Osawaru reaffirmed her commitment to effective legislative representation and oversight. She emphasized that the elevated role represents a duty to the public rather than a mere title, noting that a healthy democracy relies heavily on vibrant debate, accountability, and an uncompromising dedication to advocating for ordinary citizens.
